June Meeting Recap

Thanks to everyone who came out for our first “official” meeting on Wednesday. It was great meeting and talking shop with local talent. People really seemed to have enjoyed the meeting, and not just because of the free beer. Networking and seeing how others worked seemed to be the topic of discussion.

Congratulations to Kent for winning a copy of Creative Suite 5! All other attendees also received prizes.

You can view the UML presentation here.

Here are a bunch of links from some of the conversations we had.

The last time we met we only had a few people show, mainly due to lack of communication on our part. Sorry about that. So this time we aren’t holding back one bit. Come hear about how you can improve your project planning process with the use of UML. We will also have one or two project profiles of recent Flash applications developed by local firms, a great way to see what is developing locally in your own backyard. Towards the end of the night we will raffle off some prizes consisting of books, some geek toys, and the mother of all prizes, a copy of Adobe CS5!!! What? That’s crazy! Well that’s just how we roll. All are welcome to come. Bring a friend while you’re at it.

Agenda:

  • Open discussion (some light food and beer will be provided)
  • Discuss new features in Flash CS5
  • Project Profiles
  • Presentation: “Using UML to plan your ActionScript project.”
  • Raffle Prizes

Win Adobe Creative Suite 5!!!

One lucky winner will have their choice of a copy of CS5 (Design Premium, Web Premium, or Production Premium).

March Meeting Recap

Ok, so here you go. I finally was able to get the meeting recap posted. Sorry for the delay.

I would like to thank everyone for coming out to our first meeting ever. It was great to meet everyone face to face. Hopefully this will be the start of something great. I can’t express enough how important it is to have an outlet where we can all get together to discuss all things Flash. I would also like to thank Adobe for accepting our group as an official Adobe User Group.

We started out our meeting with introductions and some general discussions on how we should structure the group.  Jason presented on the power of Object Oriented Programming (OOP). It was a basic overview of OOP which served as a great starting point. More advanced presentations on OOP will follow in upcoming meetings.

We are in the process of getting some sponsors for the group. We have our eye on a few publishers. More to come.

This meeting was pretty much set up through our mailing list, but for future, we will be posting all upcoming meetings to this blog. Stay tuned for our CS5 launch meeting. We will be going over the awesome new features of Flash CS5.

Remember to tell a friend about the Reading Flash Alliance.

Soon to Launch Our First Event

T minus 10-9-8-7-6…

We are currently planning for our first event and working with Adobe to launch the group as an official user group . Stay tuned for a scheduled kick off event within the next few months.

Welcome to the Reading Flash Alliance

It’s important to connect with similar businesses in the area to share creative and technical media experiences. This belief has led to the formation of the Reading Flash Alliance. This group will be geared towards advanced Flash developers and media firms to share concepts and to represent themselves in the local area as industry leaders. All those involved have equal parts in planning and shaping the group into something spectacular.

RFA is an Adobe User Group. Another goal of this group is to serve as a forum to gather and showcase great local talent. RFA is a place to network, learn, and share talents. All are welcome to participate.

Stay tuned for upcoming meetings and events.
